Selenium
The bioavailability of selenium differs per form. Selenium bound to the essential amino acid L-methionine is best absorbed.
Low selenium intake
The latest Food Consumption Survey by the RIVM showed that the Dutch population generally has a low intake of selenium from food. This is probably because, due to intensive agriculture, the soil on which our food is grown currently contains very little selenium. With a low intake from food, supplementation with a dietary supplement may be considered.
Dosage
Thorne's selenium contains 200 mcg of selenium per vegetarian capsule. Other than that the capsule contains nothing more than microcrystalline cellulose as a filler.
